Webinar Series for Nonprofit Leaders Launched

The National Human Services Assembly (www.nationalassembly.org), a nonprofit association of the nation's leading human service and community development organizations, is pleased to invite you and your colleagues to an extraordinary series of high-quality webinars--Thursdays at Three: Knowledge for Nonprofit Sector Leaders

The series is designed for local and national leaders of nonprofit human service and community development organizations. There are seven one-hour webinars scheduled thus far, with more to come.  All sessions are free but space is limited.

The subject matter of Thursdays at Three ranges from operational (e.g., managing unemployment costs), to organizational (e.g., results based accountability) to programmatic knowledge (e.g., new insights on demographic trends and their implications for service delivery).  Chose those that are relevant to you and register.  Forward the link to others so they can do so as well.

"Poor leadership in good times can be hidden, but poor leadership in bad times is a recipe for disaster."  With this claim, Jack Zenger and Joseph Folkman lead off their article, "Ten Flaws That Derail Leaders," in Harvard Business Review (June 2009).  From their research on over 11,000 business leaders, they found that the worst leaders....

Many early care and school-age programs in the state of Pennsylvania are beginning to feel the pain associated with the budget impasse.  The longer the impasse continues, the more programs will be faced with difficult decisions….  laying off staff,  eliminating child slots,  consolidating classrooms, closure.

It is vital for leaders at all levels to communicate to their legislators. All voices must continue sharing stories concerning how the budget is impacting children and families in the communities which the legislators serve.

Directors need to encourage their staff, who need to encourage their parents, who need to encourage their colleagues and employers, who need to share with the legislators the impact the budget is having on children and families.

Visit the PA Promise website today, and share your story with your legislator.   Write a letter, send a fax, email, make a visit, or phone call.   Then, encourage all you work with, to do the same.
